Recently, I downloaded a video off YouTube but it was in Japanese so I need to add English subtitles to the video then I could share it with some friends. Windows Movie Maker, which claims to have the ability to overlay text on video, but the feature set is so poor and it is nearly impossible to control where the subtitles showed up, for how long, and in what kind of format.
Here I teach you the best way to add subtitles to a video.
Step 1:
Have the video and sutitle readyFind. Then download and install Xilisoft video converter (Download Now for FREE Trial). If you don’t have a subtitle you could create your own with Subtitle Workshop or you can find subtitles in several resources for FREE like Subbiee Search, AllSubs, SubScene, Subtitle Database and DivX Subtitles (free registration is required). The video converter I recommend supports almost all popular subtitles .The most common subtitle formats are .srt and .sub.
Step 2
Load your video file and add the subtitle. Choose a certain profile or set the parameters by yourself.
Tips: If you want to compress your video size, you could choose to reduce the video frame rate. Directly choose the video quality could make it as the same.
Step 3 set the properties of your subtitle.
Xilisoft video converter provides a favorable function of subtitle performance. Right click on the project going to run, and then choose “effect”.

In the Effect, you could set the font and vertical position. You could change the effect and the color, even the transparence of the characters.

After you finished the setting .click OK or Apply to return to the main menu. Begin the conversion and then you will get a terminal video file in certain format and contain the subtitle you want.
Tip: if you want to add multi language subtitle, loop step 3 and add the additional subtitle file and you could contract the two languages.
And that’s it! As if that was very easy! Enjoy your new subtitled video!
