In the last few years, there has been an ever growing trend of video converting software sprouting out from every corner of the web. Some are free, some are not, and these video converters are in big demand. I like video converters, why? ‘Cause I’m a nerd? No, because I hate the fact that there are a million different types of video and audio formats currently available. I hate having a video which I can only play with this player and I can only watch with this device. I hate proprietary formats that restrict my use of multimedia. If you think about it from the big corporation’s perspective, sure, it makes sense. Having a proprietary format ensures your customers are using your product.

By no means am I encouraging people to steal music and movies. But where we stand right now, it is getting ridiculous. Lets say I buy a DVD movie, oh wait, I can’t watch this movie on my PSP because PSP has a proprietary format, so now I have to buy this movie again for my PSP. What if I want to watch it on my iPhone or iPod, same problem, proprietary format, so I have to buvidy it again from iTunes. This is why video/audio converting software is so popular, because it breaks that barrier and lets me use my multimedia anywhere I want. If I purchased a movie from the internet, I can use this converter to convert it so I can burn it to a DVD or turn it to a format suitable for my PSP or iPod.

This creates a grey area, and obviously some people are using video converters and DVD rippers to steal music and movies. If I buy a song or a movie, it is my belief that I should be able to enjoy this song and movie on any medium I desire. If there is a system where I can purchase a movie and use it on any medium and be able to change it to any format for free? That would be ideal, but that day is not upon us, so in the meanwhile, just use your video converters.

There are so many converters out there and you can find many free ones. But if you use a lot of multimedia, it’s better to just pay for a one.

I found ImTOO video converter (Download Now for FREE Trial) quite reliable and easy to use, which is worthy of trial.

Quite often you may want to remove audio tracks from the input video while editing a video clip, so get only video stream as an output. How?

Of course you can do it with some big guys like Adobe Premiere, Pinnacle Studio or some other huge tools, all for hundreds of bucks. Those tools are powerful but need more time to learn. I think it will be like shooting a mouse with an elephant gun if you use them just for this easy audio task.

There is also a total FREE way. First you find out the length of the video track and then start sound recorder or any multimedia player which can record sound. Start recording and you must check that no sound is really recorded by it.Record till the length of your video track. Save that null audio file. Then open windows Movie Maker and then import that audio track and drag it to the audio timeline, then save your job. Actually you are not removing audio but overwriting on it with an empty audio track.

Also, I will teach you one way with Video Converter (Download for FREE Trial). The only trick to remove audio from video is before converting a video, remember to click on the “Profile Setting” button. On the “Profile Setting” window, change the “Disable Audio” setting to “True”, as below.

I have been asked by some people which is the best video converter? I would recommend ImTOO Video Converter and Total Video Converter, two top rated video converters you should try.

Then comes another issue, which is better?
